Welcome to the Avoiding Malpractice Complaints course. It is lovely to have you here, and I can’t wait to get stuck in the ethics and guidelines of the counselling profession. You are probably not as enthusiastic about the course as I am, but I hope that by the end of the course, you will feel confident in your ability to address ethical issues in your counselling practice.

Having a good handle on the guidelines and code of practice brings a sense of quiet settlement and reassurance to the way we work. When we are in the dark about what we can and can’t do and living in a land of ambiguity, there can be a constant undertone of anxiety that plagues us (that is what I found anyway).

The aim of this course is to provide you with the information and knowledge of what not to do as a counsellor to support you in thriving in your practice and not worrying about doing anything wrong.
